This is because the tall bands may not tighten down the lids all the way due to the height of the band.  Simply take the metal lid, set it on the jar, take the glass lid and flip it upside down and then tighten it with the tall ring.

While we have not actually used these lids yet (not the season), I am willing to give Forjjars five stars just for making Gem size lids available again! While they are a bit pricey, they are cheaper (and less irritating) than having to throw away dozens of Gem jars, and buy wide mouth Mason replacements. I thank you, our many friends & family with similar stocks of Gem jars thank you, and Mother Nature, provider of landfill space, thanks you.

I'm guessing the greedy corporate whiz-bangs who bought out and killed the Gem lid supply so they could re-supply Canada (especially here out west) with inferior design jars and lids, do NOT thank you. I don't care, and neither should you!

I love all three sizes of Forjar lids. I have been using them for a year now. All my jars have sealed and they are STILL sealed. Unlike the other main brand I use to use until I ended up with to many jars unsealing over the year. I will continue buying my Forjars lids and rings.
